Charming and sunny, CALPE is the icon of relaxation on the North Costa Blanca

When you visit Calpe you are captivated by its charm. The great attraction that the natural environment of this sunny town on the Costa Blanca emits on its visitors caused its early tourist transformation, even anticipating the boom of the 1970s. Many tourists, captivated by this idyllic corner of Spain, choose to buy a property in Calpe to enjoy the sun and its beaches throughout the year. Today, almost half of its population is made up of inhabitants from other European countries, mainly English, Germans, Russians, Romanians, French, etc…

Calpe is located at the foot of one of the main attractions of the Costa Blanca: the Peñón de Ifach. This enormous rock that, with more than three hundred meters of height dominates the Mediterranean, is declared a Natural Park. The Peñón de Ifach is one of the most photographed and visited places on the Costa Blanca. It is also one of the most popular places for hiking enthusiasts. The sports enthusiasts can access to its top from where spectacular views of the sea, Formentera, Ibiza and the Cape of Santa Pola are observed. But there is also a simpler route that is ideal to share with the whole family. On your way, you will find a great variety of birds: seagulls, starlings, kestrels, hawks, cormorants, swifts, ... as well as interesting native vegetation.

Located next to the Peñón de Ifach is the Natural Park of Salinas that you can visit by foot or by bicycle along an easily identifiable path. You will be surprised to see the large number of migratory birds that rest in this protected place where you can observe numerous flamingos and storks. Before declaring itself a natural park, this place was a salt farm that has been in operation for several centuries and has its beginnings in Roman times, when salt was essential for food preservation.

Calpe's extensive beaches are internationally famous. The Playa del Arenal - Bol beach is the most popular as it is located in the old town area. Its fine golden sands are perfect for relaxing and sunbathing. Any time of the year you can enjoy pleasant walks along the seashore or, if you prefer, go windsurfing, water skiing, surfing, paddleboarding ... Along the beach you will find various booths to rent the necessary equipment. If you prefer a more relaxed lifestyle, imagine yourself on the sunny terrace of a café on its lively Paseo Marítimo with views of the Bay of Calpe. It is the perfect meeting point to meet your friends. In the spectacular Playa de Levante or la Fossa you will love its fine sand, especially to play with the youngest of the family, but you will also find areas of rock or boulders.

On the Calpe coastline, the coves of great beauty are intertwined, a small paradise of sand or gravel that will enchant you. Some of them are only accessible from the sea: At "Cala Gasparet" or "Cala Racó del Corv" divers can enjoy its beautiful seabed.

Would you like to bathe in a pool from Roman times? In Calpe it is possible. In the Baños de la Reina we find an important archaeological site with the remains of a palace and some Roman baths. In addition, there are also rafts carved out of the rock by the sea that were used as a fish farm for later salting and preserving fish. Today, you can take a dip in these fabulous artificial and historical pools.

In the Calpe Marina, located under the shelter of the Peñón de Ifach, in addition to mooring your yacht or renting a boat, you have a sailing and diving school, a fun experience for the most daring.
